Site redesign and online product advisor

Home page wireframe communicates the dual focus of the site and documents all functional requirements for the represented view.

Home page screenshot illustrates how the concepts contained in the wireframe were translated into a visually compelling design by our design team.

Product advisor logic flow indicates how users move through the questions in the wizard, which questions are contained in which view, and any dependencies or alternate paths. |
Security company Protection One needed a new website that effectively addressed its two disparate audiences: residential customers and business customers, while still communicating a single, cohesive brand image. I developed a site architecture using a "silo" approach, designed to lead users down the audience-specific path most appropriate to their needs. The final site design provides users with two distinct paths, while still providing cross-navigation at key points to allow users to self-correct their navigation paths if needed.
As part of the redesign, our client also wanted to develop a "security advisor"—an online wizard that would present users with a branching series of questions to provide some initial recommendations regarding the type of security system best suited to their needs. The primary challenge of this portion of the project was developing a logic flow that ensured questions were presented in a logical order, and to provide each user with at least one relevant recommendation. After conversations with several members of the Protection One sales staff and numerous iterations, I delivered a flowchart that successfully met the client’s needs, while still maintaining a short seat time and pleasant user experience. |
